Low income uninsured residents of Alpena, Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan,
Emmet, Montmorency, Otsego, and Presque Isle county may be eligible for a health care coverage
program. The following is a description of each of those available programs:
Plan A
Residents eligible for the Adult Benefits Waiver (ABW) program through the State of Michigan are enrolled in Northern Health Plan, Plan A. This program is NOT insurance. It provides basic medical care to low income childless adults who do not qualify for Medicaid. Enrollment in Northern Health Plan, Plan A is done by the local Department of Human Services (DHS). program may be eligible for a community-sponsored program called Northern Health Plan, Plan B. This

Residents whose incomes are 200% or less of poverty and who are not
eligible for any government sponsored prescription program, may be eligible for the Northern Health Plan Plan Rx Program. This program provides coordinated access to
prescription medications at low cost.

Prescription Discount Program
Residents who do not have prescription (medication) coverage may be eligible for
the Prescription Discount Program. This program is a way for people without prescription
coverage to obtain prescription drugs at lower prices at their pharmacy. All prescription drugs are
